The Great British Bake Off’ has inspired a new wave of budding bakers.
Learning good, solid skills is a great starting point. Our enthusiastic, creative and supportive tutor will help inspire you to create great things in a friendly environment. By understanding how and why ingredients interact, and how your input can make or break a cake, you will be on the right track to baking perfection. Why not start with our beginner’s course to baking? You can then progress to the next stage which is Sugar Craft with a solid background of knowledge.
This course introduces you to the different methods of preparing and baking cakes.
The course beginning 1 November 2016 will look at Christmas-themed cakes, whilst our course in the new year will include:
- Victoria sponge
- Red velvet valentine cup cakes
- Madeira cake
- Vanilla Genoese
- Lemon drizzle cake
- Carrot cake
- Chocolate Easter roulade
- Easter Simnel fruit cake
A selection of fillings and topppings will be produced to accompany your cakes and sponges including buttercream, chocolate ganache and flavoured drizzles and toppings.
You will also gain an understanding of the different equipment and tools to prepare and bake cakes, along with learning the different types of cakes and their ingredients and cooking methods.
The course will also include a taster into sugar crafting – how to decorate your cakes.
You will need to bring your own ingredients to each session and the tutor will advise.
Sugar Craft Beginners or Intermediate, depending on your experience level.
