How did you end up in this job?
I worked within the Technical/Hygiene department within Allied Bakeries for a few years and an opportunity became available within the engineering department. With a lack of engineering experience it was a tall order butit was a new challenge and something I was keen to apply for.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of pursuing this career?
A career in the food and drink industry always brings exciting new challenges and opportunities. I started working at Allied when I was 16 as a hygiene worker. It was a part time job to earn additional money to help me through university. I quickly felt like it was an industry I could pursue a career within.
What’s the best thing about your job?
No day is the same. Every day brings its own challenges.
If you had the chance to do it all over again, what would you do the same / differently?
How long have you been doing your job?
I have been an engineering storeman for the past 7months.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
My aim is to gain further engineering experience and to hopefully step up into the maintenance planner role.
Did you buy something special with your first pay cheque?
I recently purchased my first property with my partner Emily, so I spent most of my salary on furnishing the house.
